The Holy Trinity and the Unforgivable Sin

I’m astounded by the number of Christians who believe that there is no such thing as the Holy Trinity. I can only assume that they are relying on the teaching of others to come to this conclusion. And have accepted these false teachings based on faith in false teachers, instead of faith in the Word of God. Consider where your loyalty lies. If one has ears to hear listen to God’s teachings, and always challenge the teachings of men.

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.” 2 Tim 2:15-16

A non-denominational Christian. Because, though many churches claim to be teaching the true word of God what is the chance that they are always right and every other church is wrong? This is the height of vanity. There are a handful of enlightened teachers that I listen to, but at one time or another I have found disagreement with all of them. They’re only human. And the teachers that I pay any attention to at all realize this. There are many who think they are as perfect as Christ himself. At least it seems so because they don’t leave open the possibility of being wrong.

Now before I make my case for the Trinity consider for a moment how important this subject is. Most of us know that we are blessed with a very forgiving God. We can break his heart by doing an almost endless number of shameful things, and still, His mercy is possible with sufficient repentance. Except for one thing.

“And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.” Luke 12:10

Is the Holy Ghost more important than the Son of man? Maybe not, but the Holy Ghost is the essence of Christ, and Jehovah, His father. Consider this phrase from the beginning of the Bible:

“And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” Gen 1:2

In the second sentence “the Spirit of” could have been left out and the sentence would still make sense, but it wasn’t. And for reason, if you believe that this book speaks the truth. And notice that Spirit is capitalized. It’s a proper noun. Later in the chapter:

“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.” Gen 1:26

Was He talking to himself? Some might argue that, no, he was speaking to His Son, who has existed from the beginning. And yes, the Bible clearly states Jesus was with Jehovah at the beginning:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. “ John 1:1

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. “ John 1:14

So we clearly know that both the Father and Son were present at the beginning. And if you open your mind and step away for a moment from preconceived ideas and false teachings you can also see that the Word (Jesus) and God (Jehovah) are at the same time separate and the same. “…the Word was with God, and the Word was God…”. This might be a difficult concept for our puny little minds but its right there in the handbook of life that God has made available to us.

Now consider this in light of the second verse, “…the Spirit of God moved…”. This can only mean that this separate entity (remember Spirit is capitalized) is the spirit of both Jesus and Jehovah. Three entities, the Holy trinity. And remember these words:

“God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” John 4:24

And if that doesn’t explain this singular and triple Godhead clearly enough then just hear the words:

“For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. “ John 5:7

Some Bibles use the name Holy Spirit instead of Holy Ghost. They’re the same thing. The Greek word for Ghost is pneuma, which means spirit.

May you never commit the unforgivable sin and may you show yourself approved unto God.

Here are some parting thoughts for you to rightly divide the word of truth:

“And the angel of the LORD said unto Balaam, Go with the men: but only the word that I shall speak unto thee, that thou shalt speak. So Balaam went with the princes of Balak

And when Balak heard that Balaam was come, he went out to meet him unto a city of Moab, which is in the border of Arnon, which is in the utmost coast.

And Balak said unto Balaam, Did I not earnestly send unto thee to call thee? wherefore camest thou not unto me? am I not able indeed to promote thee to honour?

And Balaam said unto Balak, Lo, I am come unto thee: have I now any power at all to say any thing? the word that God putteth in my mouth, that shall I speak.” Num 22:35-38

The angel of the LORD in verse 35 is God in verse 38.

“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” Rom 8:26-27

“ And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost: “ 1 Thes 1:6

“Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. “ John 14:17-20

“But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: “ John 15:26

“But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. “ Matt 12:28

“If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then , Shew us the Father? “ John 14:7-9

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” Matt 28:19

Mit Romney and Strife among Christians

There has recently been a lot of questioning of the character of Mit Romney and his suitability to be our president simply because of the church he belongs to. So we have a Mormon running for president. Would it be so bad to have a leader who is strongly pro-life? Who believes in the importance of teaching morals to our children, and isn’t likely to show up for work drunk or hung-over?

Regardless of how many Christian religions there are; in the big picture, there is only one true Christian church. To think that true church is the denomination you belong to is not only vain it is absurd.

Things won’t likely turn out as depicted in the Southpark episode—a bunch of disappointed Christians standing in hell, hearing the news that only the Mormons made it to heaven. Yet there are many who follow this line of thinking.

If a man spent his entire life in a small village, isolated from the world and knowing nothing of the teachings of Christianity; yet lived his life in service to others and in unknowing obedience to the Ten Commandments would Christ send him to everlasting destruction for not being baptized or proclaiming in words his faith in Jesus? I don’t think so.

“Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” 1 Cor 1:10

We will be known and rewarded for our works, not for our devotion to a particular pastor or denomination.

“For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?” 1 Cor 3:3, 4

“Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” Col 2:8

Instead of blanket statements like “Mormonism isn’t true Christianity” or “Catholics are too ritualistic” or “everyone who eats pork will go to hell”, can we accept the fact that faith is necessary and good works are rewarded? And then go from there?

To think that someone must belong to your church to receive God’s grace is insulting to our Lord. Where is that in scripture? Likewise, to assume that a person will not see the Kingdom of Heaven because he belongs to a church that you don’t agree with is to be lacking in humility. And it is approaching idol worship.

The traditions of men say to pray publicly. Jesus said, “pray to thy Father which is in secret” Mat 6:6. And by example he went off alone on a mountain to pray. The traditions of men say to berate other religions. Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.” Mat 5:9 We can’t cast aside the old man in place of the new if we worship the traditions of men.

“Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” 1 Cor 2:12-14

None of this is meant to minimize our watchfulness for false teachers, but we will know them by their fruit. (Look at the fruit of Islam.) Instead of acting with strife or sedition we should act with love, and meekness, and temperance.

“For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.” 1 Thes 5:9-13

Christian Harmony--Identifying our Friends

Baptists may have some problems with the beliefs of Catholics, and vice-versa, but they both believe that Christ is their savior. Evangelical Christians may differ on some things from Mormons, but they both believe the Bible is the Word of God and that the Holy Spirit is our comforter and our guide. Faithful followers of these and the most other Christian sects may differ on how to achieve or aspire to, or arrive at the kingdom of heaven but they all have the same goal; and they believe that loving and serving our neighbors is how to show our love of God. So we should of course all work to strengthen and help each other.

Let’s not be like the Sunnis and Shia, and up until recently Hamas and Fatah. Since the common goal of these groups is to see us subjugated or dead it is in our best interest that they don’t work efficiently together to accomplish their common goal. Conversely it is in our best interest to work together to defeat Islamic jihad, and darkness. And to bring the light of God to the world.

“Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” 1 Cor 1:10

At a time when there are many millions all over the globe willing to sacrifice their physical lives in order to serve the beast that is Islam, that gets its authority from Satan (Rev 13:2), by wiping Christianity and if necessary Christians from the face of the earth,

we need to focus on the common ideals that we hold and stand shoulder to shoulder in the service of God.

Additionally we should be enlisting the alliance and support of non-Christians who are earnestly and honestly seeking to bring light and goodness into the world, whether they are Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, or Scientologists. If anyone is earnestly and honestly seeking truth and dedicated to doing good works we should consider them our friends and allies, despite our differences.

“I will give unto every one of you according to your works.” Rev 2:23.

If, in our eyes, we find some slightly, or greatly, lacking spiritual enlightenment or following the teachings of a false prophet we should do what we can to educate them, perhaps with passion but also with humility.

One of the most common traditions of man is to find fault with and chastise each other. But it is important to keep our eyes on the real enemies we face, namely Islamic jihad and those who give power to that beast (Rev 13:12), such as: the ACLU, the United Nations, the French government, many of our liberal politicians and professors, etc., etc.

As true servants of God we can’t waste valuable time and resources denigrating Buddhists because of the actions of a couple of dictators currently behaving badly toward Christians, or Mormons because of a false prophet (Warren Jeffs) who calls himself a Mormon and controls a tiny sub sect of that larger group. It would be equally unfair to equate David Koresh with Christianity, or Charles Manson with Scientology. There are bad apples in every bunch.

For the most part any religion is better than no religion. With religion a person is at least seeking enlightenment and has a moral base. There are a few exceptions though. Satanism and Islam for example. Satanism is relatively inconsequential to the average person. For one thing there aren’t that many of them and for another their actions most often account to nothing more than mixing a few herbs trying to cast some spells. I don’t know about you but I don’t think I have ever been harmed by a ritual performed by a Wicca nut. Islam is another story.

With over a billion Muslims in the world and probably at least that many blind infidel supporters there are innocent people being slaughtered and abused around the world on a daily basis. This is a religion that should be recognized as an enemy to God and his children. This is not the case of a small sub sect gone wild. These are actions obedient to the teachings of the Koran and the Hadith. And actions in direct defiance to the will of God as the more fortunate of us understand it.

Let’s not be politically correct and continually call this enemy names that modify and obscure it from our vision like ‘radical Islam’ or ‘Muslim extremists’. If they’re not radical or extreme they’re not being obedient to their scripture. That’s like a person living a life of adultery, hatred, and sedition calling himself a Christian.

The only way to defeat this enemy is to receive God’s seal and get our names written into the book of life.

“And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” Rev 13:7, 8

Let’s not be distracted by our differences, and stand together with all of God’s children who are worthy of Him. And let us earn our white robes of righteousness by standing and working together, in defiance of Islam, instead of at odds with each other like the Sunnis and Shia.
